What I've been working on...

I've been turning this...

Into this...

Using this...

I found this pattern http://www.modabakeshop.com/2012/06/peaks-and-valleys.html and realised I could use my Accuquilt die to cut all the fabric up in next to no time!

I needed 256 navy triangles with pink side triangles and the same for pink triangles with navy side triangles. Then I needed 512 of each pink and navy 3 1/2" squares before sewing each block. Here is the order I sewed it in....

I have about 14 blocks to go before I have the 64 I need to make a 96" square quilt. I too'ed and fro'ed between making it 84" square or 96" and decided the bigger size would be better. I'm very happy with this lovely scrappiness.

And so I shall return with this baby quilted soon.

Be lovely
Vicki

Oldest UFO?

Today I visited Betty who sent out an invitation for any of our Thread Therapy girls to come and sit in her lovely clean patio. As it happened I was on my last day off of 9 in a row, so we sat in the dry early summers day under her cool patio and did some stitching. I managed to get the last teal circle sewn to the border. The quilt is now ready for basting then quilting.
Betty also gave me a demonstration of her new Bernina. She is much bigger in size than Bernina Virtuosa's. I don't have a photo but I did manage to get one of Betty's Sue Daly's civil war quilt still under construction.
It is a bit blurry but you can see the beauty. Very tempted to try the one out.

I also received a new book this week. I've been looking at Modern Patchwork by Elizabeth Hartman for a while so I decided to treat myself.

I've got my eye on these two first up...

This quilt is also going back to Live in Italy with Ale on Saturday.

Well that's it for today.

Yes it's been a while...

Well hello, just like an olde friend you are still there when I need you. Since my last post all those years ago, I have done one of these....

Which didn't leave a lot of time for much else really. Except for sometime in holiday breaks where I finished this...
The pattern is from quiltville.com called Easy Street. The pattern will be in Bonnie's new book due out next year I believe.

I have also made 2 baby quilts .. Of which I can only find one photo.

I have also wanted to make a big block quilt for ages. So, I did. This one is for Alee, our Italian student who is staying with us for 3 months. Alee will go home 28 September and take it with her. I will make another one but bigger for my bed and with more detail. The quilt is 54" square.

Apart from a few table runners I guess my quilts have been limited of late. I started full time work in January as well, which I love love love! Thank goodness after all the study, stress and family time deprivation. I plan on making a few more including finishing off one of my oldest UFO's which is making good progress at the moment.

We are dressed up for patch n peace's Saturday night garden party dinner. You will notice that the swags around the border have some missing circles. They have all been sewn on since and now have to have some smaller circles added to replicate the teal circles from each block. It is going to be gorgeous once its been quilted.

I have missed my sewing and hope to rectify that and continue to squeeze in quality time every chance I can.

So my sewing list to finish is thus;
1. 2013 shirt challenge quilt - 20 big blocks to go, approx 50 smaller blocks before I can arrange them.
2. Jazz hands, Sarah Fielke pattern
3. Quilt Quick Curve Ruler table runner
4. Progress hexagon quilt and decide on layout

And sewing to start
1. Big block quilt for my bed.

Life is good.
