I'm loving the look of my finished scrap slab quilt top. 92 1/2" unfinished. Now making the backing in a particular design from 10 1/2" squares...

Baby quilts

This quilt was made for Fletcher. The idea was inspired by a quilt photo of a Thomas Knauer quilt in the book Quilting with a modern slant by Rachel May.

To mix things up a bit, I left one of the blocks out and featured some different quilting. I love the finished product.

This quilt was made for Thea. The petals are needle turned appliqued onto the background fabric. 36 petals using 6 different fabric repeated 6 times. The blocks where the arranged to be balanced and the way I liked them to be. 

The centre was then sewn on point with the background fabric to create a floating design. The idea was pulled from a few different designers but the main inspiration was derived from Elizabeth Hartman's Craftsy class. Elizabeth's blog is Oh! fransson. Go check it out. Awesome quilts and lots of inspiration.

 

The quilting design for the petals was picked from a stencil I had and traced with a frixion pen. Easy easy easy way to draw designs on.

The filler was an evenly spaced doodle design inspired from Jenny Pedigo from Sew Kind of Wonderful's blog. The last photo is the back of the petal quilt. Easy 10.5" squares sewn 4x4. A fun and easy way to use up fabrics I'm not so in love with anymore, or fabrics not so on trend ;).

Just need to get a label on the petal quilt and gift it to Thea who is about 5 weeks old now.

Turning scraps into a quilt

I'm turning my sorted colored scraps into a quilt using this book's pattern.

Thse are my blocks so far, all 12 of them. Only 24 to go 😄

Hoping to get the others done over the next month or so. I will call this quilt confessions, since I have lots of fabric as any good committed quilter does.
