Finally finished!

Well what a difference 3 years can make. I finished a university degree in nursing and have started working as a registered nurse! OMG! If you told me that at the beginning of 2008 I would never have believed you. Not much sewing got done in the meantime, but I did get a bit done during term breaks. Here is something I finished  - my confetti quilt started in 2009 from Bonnie's mystery quilt for that year. The pattern is called Carolina Crossroads and is available in her book Scraps & Shirttails and therefore no longer free on her blog.

This is a close up of the quilting I did in the centre.
.. and a close up of the border quilting.

What does yours say?

This is Sarah, our International Student from Germany with a quilt I made her. The Pattern is Ginger Spice by Hugs'n'kisses. Great pattern, I've made it 3 times! Sarah was with us for 3 months and we had a great time learning different cultures and teaching her some of ours. Sarah has now gone back home.

I found this link to find out what your birthday says about you, go and have a go.

This is Betty's Dear Jane quilt and its almost finished! Can you see the red blocks around the centre blocks that form a diamond? Absolutely gorgeous.

Having camera card trouble so I can't show you any more for this post, but will try to get it up soon.

I'm still here

Hi, so sorry have been very slack lately, OK for several months. But I'm trying to get better. If I aim for a routine, it might work. But I'm not about to disclose what it is just in case I fall off blogland again.

Have been doing loads of sewing since we've finished the pineapple picking in the school holidays. I don't think I'm burnt out yet, but have been waiting for it too happen. I'm off to Brisbane this weekend for my girlfriends birthday. I made a new coat to wear, it turned out a bit big, so might have to make it again but in a smaller size. What do you think? I love the fabric's they are a bit retro. Yummy yummy.

I also made a table runner and diary cover in black, white and red. I'm a bit into red at the moment, and I just love the black and white shoe fabric.

I also made this basket out of some scrap wool, brushing up on some crochet before I do some real stuff for the scrumble swap about to start. Can't wait to find out my jewel colour, and then I can knit and crochet until I've done my required amount.

Anyway off to rescue the roast beef from the oven.

As you can see my step 3, 9 patches are wrong! I've only just realised as I'm trying to put it all together and the checkerboard effect doesn't work! I think I'll probably just make some new ones and put the others in my ufo block basket, they will get used eventually. Wish I'd picked this mistage up sooner.

I do like my colour's though and will post photo's of my other blocks when they are fixed.

How does it look?

Well what do you think? Just finished fiddling with my blog, and I quite like the nice colours and it feels "happy". It was easier than what I thought. If you want to fiddle with it more, it could take much longer, but I guess that's the way you learn more.

Anyway I really should be in the studio, finishing the quilting on the long lattice table runner, so it can be displayed at the shop. I've got far too many projects on the go, but will plough through them all ..... eventually.
I'm eagerly awaiting the release of Leanne's House new block of the month, Butterfly Garden. Will be doing this one through the shop too I hope. We ran the Journey of a Quilter BOM and it was a success and still gets lots of comments about how intricate and detailed the quilt is.

I also designed this quilt when we had quite alot of chenille fabric's, but after re-ordering colours several times, we decided not to stock them anymore.

So now the quilt is in my quilting frame and will be hung in the shop as a decoration. Will take another photo when the quilting is finished and the binding on.

Thought you might also be interested to see where I sew. My very chaotic but productive sewing area. Will clean it up soon. Maybe during the Christmas break, too many things to make before christmas. Eeek just realised 23 days to go! Better start sewing instead of typing.

Until next time,

Vicki

First of many?

After lurking and visiting many other blog's, I accidentally clicked on the create blog box, but before bailing out, I thought why not give it a go and see what happen's. I really enjoy visiting blog's and have a few favourite's already.

So, we'll see what happens from now on.
